Finding Connection: How Hasleworks Transformed My Remote Work Experience

We were delighted to welcome Sarah to HasleWorks a couple of months ago. As the Head of Community at Mews, a software company serving the hospitality industry, Sarah's journey to our space is a testament to the growing need for flexible work environments. With her local office in London and a remote-first work style, she sought a solution that would blend productivity with social connection. Here, she shares her experience of finding a professional home at HasleWorks, highlighting how it has positively impacted her work life and overall well-being.

“A bit about me
I’m Sarah. I work for Mews, a software company for the hospitality industry, as the Head of Community. Mews is a remote-first company and while my local office is based in London, I don’t tend to go there very much as it’s a 3 hour round trip, and the rail service is costly and not always reliable. So, I’ve been working remotely from home since the pandemic.

Why did I come to Hasleworks:
While convenient, it’s actually quite isolating working remotely. I do have lots of meetings during the day virtually but it’s not the same as being together with others in a professional working environment. I also had building work starting on my house and I have children who come home at 4pm so plenty of distractions that was starting to impact my productivity.

A few months ago, my company partnered with Desana, a global network of workspaces, to give employees the option to work from an office outside of their home. I have 3 offices on the Desana network within a 30 minute radius to home, and having tried and tested them all, Hasleworks is the best option for me.

What I like about Hasleworks:
I was welcomed immediately by Kitty who manages the office and is here every day, and she gave me a tour of the office. I was introduced to some of the regulars who have a fixed desk and I’m getting to see and know the familiar faces. The social aspect of seeing people during the day was something that I was missing so it’s really nice to feel like I’m making friends here.

The facilities are excellent – there are 3 sound-proof booths for calls, a larger meeting room that can be booked, kitchen with plenty of tea, coffee and snacks and room to sit. It’s also designed and decorated nicely and everything is clean and tidy.
Free parking is just a 5 minute walk away which was important to me too, and it’s right in the centre of Haslemere which is a lovely town with lots of options if you want to head out for lunch, or go for a social drink after work with a couple of people here, which I have done.
I feel safe here too, if I’m working a little later and I’m the only one here, the secure digital key lock gives me peace of mind.

Hasleworks has had a positive impact on my working life. I enjoy the routine of leaving the house, driving to the office and being greeted by people I know.”
